Winter Van Check: 5 Essentials You Shouldn’t Ignore
Before the cold really kicks in, make sure you’ve ticked these off:
✅ 1. Battery Health
Cold weather puts a serious strain on your battery. If it’s more than 3 years old, it could be on its last legs. Don’t wait for it to fail on a freezing Monday morning.
✅ 2. Tyres & Tread
Wet, icy roads + bald tyres = a bad time. Check the tread depth and pressures regularly. If you're due for replacements, sort it now — especially if you're clocking up miles daily.
✅ 3. Screenwash & Visibility
Top up with winter screenwash, not water — or you’ll end up with frozen jets when you need them most. And don’t forget your wipers. If they’re smearing or squeaking, get a new set on.
✅ 4. Lights, Heaters & Demisters
ou're going to need full visibility. Double-check that all your lights are working and your heaters/demisters are doing their job properly. It's a legal and safety must.
✅ 5. Emergency Kit
Throw together a winter van kit: de-icer, scraper, gloves, hi-vis, torch, and a warning triangle. It’s simple stuff — but if you get caught out, you’ll be glad you had it.
